How to renew a patient assistance program

To renew a patient assistance program, you enroll again before your approval ends. All four drug maker programs whose documents we read on 10/31/26 ask patients to reapply or re-enroll. At NovoCare, AZ&Me and Eisai, uninsured enrollment runs up to 12 months. At NovoCare and AZ&Me, Medicare enrollment ends with the calendar year, and Bausch Health and Eisai apply that date to Part D enrollees and federal program beneficiaries, so your date depends on your insurance.

When approval ends, when to reapply, and what changes for people with Medicare.

The short answer

  • Record the date your approval ends.
  • These four programs use the end of the calendar year for Medicare, Part D or federal program enrollees.
  • Rules can change from one year to the next.

How long approval lasts

The length depends on the program and your insurance. Your approval notice takes precedence over these examples, read on 10/31/26.

ProgramWithout insuranceWith MedicareHow renewal works
NovoCare12 monthsThrough the end of the calendar yearNew application and supporting documents
AZ&MeUp to 12 monthsThrough December 31Re-enroll each year while eligible
Bausch HealthNo separate rule; approved patients get up to 12 monthsPart D enrollees are terminated December 31 and must reapplyRe-enroll each year on the application form
Eisai (LENVIMA)Rolling 12 monthsFederal program beneficiaries: entire calendar yearRe-enroll when approval ends

When to reapply

NovoCare lets patients reapply 30 days before enrollment ends, and people with Medicare Part D can apply for the next year after October 15. Bausch Health says it sends a re-enrollment notice before the anniversary date.

AZ&Me says Medicare patients enrolled now will not be automatically re-enrolled for 2027. That separate process is set out in a document we could not review, so check the AZ&Me site or call the program.

What to check before you renew

Eisai says re-enrollment confirms that patients still meet its criteria, and NovoCare asks for supporting documents with the new application. Check the current figure. The AZ&Me income table carries an effective date of January 26, 2026, and you can compare your numbers with the income limits in plain dollars.

Do not assume last year’s rule still applies. Pfizer warns that its rules can change at any time, and NovoCare no longer accepts Medicare beneficiaries with drug coverage for Ozempic. If a renewal does not go through, read what to do after an application is denied.
